I just got a new camera (Panasonic FZ10) yesterday so I thought I'd take a few pictures. All caveats about screenshots not being a good indicator of picture quality apply, but people like them so here they are.

The pictures were taken in full auto mode. The camera chose f/2.8 and 1/4 second shutter.

Looks great! Could you post your video setup (screen, dvd player, etc.) as well. I'm sure you've posted it elsewhere, but it would be good to have it with the screen shots. Thanks!

Innova,

STUNNING pictures. Assuming that what I'm seeing in the pictures accurately reflects what you see on the screen...I'm amazed at the brightness of the white...the "light" in the images looks very real...like the light on le-lu's face when she's onboard the cruise ship on the paradise island.

Are you *really* honest about not being able to see any real pixel structure from a 1.5 viewing distance? Would that be about where your 2nd row of seats falls? 1.5 is about as close as I need to get so if I can't see pixels there I'm feeling some temptation.

What I'm looking for at this point (hopefully by summer) is a "get me through" PJ that will tide me over while I wait for the perfect blacks/perfect color/perfect 1080P machine. I'm looking to spend at most $3000 or *maybe* $3500 "street" price. If Infocus has really dropped the MSRP on the 5700 to $3900 then *maybe* that's a possibility?

In any case...since almost all my viewing will be with DVD source material...I think I could live without full HD res with my "temporary" projector as long as DVDs are truly rendered with silky-smoothness, detail, and don't show signs of obvious screen door or pixels from 1.5 widths away.

Awaiting your feedback...

I mentioned to you in a different post, that I sit 1.1-1.2x away. I can see pixels. Mostly in white scenes. They don't bother me. At 1.5x, I don't see any pixels so I would say that you are safe.

That is the same situation I was in this summer, and that is why I decided on the 5700. You have a PM. (Actually your box is full pm me when you get a chance, I'll be gone this weekend though)

Stunning pictures, nice theater set-up, and very cute kid.

I've heard that IF nails the settings correct right out of the box - did you do any calibration or are those pics right out of the box?

As soon as my local IF dealers can adjust their selling price to reflect the new price drop - I think I'm gonna place an order.:D Gotta get off the fence sometime...

I fooled with the settings a little bit, but went back to factory settings. These pictures were taken in Film1 mode.

I'm off snowmobiling for the weekend, I'll check back Sunday night :)

Some HD pics would be great since this seems to be a lot of ppls concern, myself included, with the Matterhorns.

From the pictures of your HT room I see what looks like two bulk heads. It also appears that one is in front of the projector. If this is correct I was wondering if you could give me some information on your setup. Such as screen type and size, how low you have it mounted and how you have the projector mounted. I have to contend with a 10" bulk head running across the center of the ceiling in my HT room which has caused me to search for a short throw projector. In your setup works, I may just spring for the IF 5700 instead of waiting for the SE 30HD or the BenQ 7800. Any info would be appreciated. By the way great pictures!

Innova,

Do you always use film1 mode? What settings do you use in the fli menu.. 2:2 pulldown, 48khz etc.?

I will finally get my infocus 5700 up and running this monday, and getting your settings will save me same calibration time. I have a new coolpix digicam.. is that good enough to post screen shots(I always have trouble with the focus)?

If I can I will maybe post shots of my screen and setup.

lol, I think we all vote that David should change his handle to

DaVID Boulet 1.5

Who's with me! ;)

The screen shots are very clear but the animation ones don't help me. Now the very first shot of Frodo here's where there's room for improvement. I use this shot to cue in a better 6500k.

In your RGB adjustments, bring up the Red Contrast some clicks while the shot is paused and bring back the G-contrast a click or two. Also try lowering the RGB-brightness a little equally several clicks. What I do is start with Avia and use the all black brightness pattern bring back the RGB-brightness until the left moving black bar just disappears. Give it a try, see what you think.

You're trying to give Frodo a Little more blush on the red side. I'm not sure how your projector is acting but you may need to add a little green also to give the flesh tones a slight golden look. Sorta like this --

Hope I don't sound like a pain, just a stickler for this stuff.

Guitarman,

From using a screen shot viewed on your monitor I don't think small details for calibration can be ascertained.

I doubt he needs any adjustments as the SP5700 tracks better at 6500 before calibration than most displays do after calibration.
