I see special Infocus DVI cables being sold - with a special M1DA to DVI connection.

Is this, or a converter, required to hook the Infocus up using DVI? Does the M1DA end plug into the projector I assume?

Thanks!

Yes you will need this cable if you want to use your 7200/7205 with DVI. IF uses what they call a M1DA terminal at the projector end instead of a "traditional" DVI terminal.

Yes it is a proprietary connection that Infocus uses. The adaptors are only about $50 or so, so not a big deal. They also use this connection for the firmware updates (with a different cable).

Hey all, I got my Infocus DVI cable, and I plan to go to my house under construction and put all of my cables in the wall/ceiling before they do the dry wall.

So just to make sure I am thinking correctly, the white end of the Infocus DVI cable (the one with the middle segment of pins removed) would be used to plug into the projector, and the black end (full set of pins) would be used to plug into a DVI device. Correct?

Thanks!

The bigger of the two connectors is the M1DA connector.

If you can swing it, I suggest that you install 2" conduits for cables instead of just installing the DVI cable. 2 conduits ought to cover any future needs.

You can end up needing cables that you don't currently envision needing. Currently, I have 3 sets of component cables, 2- Svid cables, 1- composite cable, and 1 DVI cable. It is sure convenient to be able to run a new cable without opening up the walls and ceiling. Running the conduit is easy and cheap while the house is under construction.
