I've "borrowed" an InFocus LP452z from work to play movies and sports outdoors. It seems to work fine when hooked to a PC but the DSS and/or DVD cause the machine to overheat? It runs for 8 to 15 minutes, then the picture cuts out.

After waiting 30 to 60 seconds flipping the power back on gets a spool up and the picture returns for another round of 8 - 15 minutes.

Took the front cover off (man is that bulb bright!) and it seems to last a little longer before cutting out.

Is this "normal"? I've heard that these are really designed for short presentations, not 2 to 3 hours of continous play.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

My InFocus LP435z works fine for hours at a time...

I would suggest checking you have good airflow at both the front and rear of the projector - if the fan isn't getting enough cool air it could cause problems.

I agree, make sure the vents are clear. You mentioned using the unit outside... How hot is it outside, and does the projector do the same thing when hooked up to a VCR inside your house?
