The LP435z is a good machine, reasonably bright XGA DLP with a zoom lens. It has good video processing and accepts 1080i on a VGA input; said to work well with the DTC-100.
The colors and contrast are not as good as more recent Infocus machines, e.g., the 340,350, and new 530.
Compared to the NEC LT150, the 435z has better video processing but the NEC is clearly better on color and contrast.
For $1000 new, that is a good price. I haven't seen a price that low on the machine. Generally trades for around 2000 on Ebay, but has been falling.
I should mention that I tend to be biased in favor of the Infocus machines, believing that they provide good value overall with excellent video processing. Contrast, color, and halos (light leaks) tend to be their deficiencies.
