Infocus has posted new firmware for their LS110 Screenplay projectory :)

http://www.infocus.com/service/ls110...sp?soft=system

the fixes (as copied from the infocus site)

* Interlaced computer modes will no longer “twitterâ€

* New support built into SW for the new Keypad controller  with faster menu response

* Add support for 576p, 1080i 50hz and interlaced digital signals

* Video Sources that occasionally discontinue the signal, such as a changing the channel on a VCR tuner, will not produce a blue screen as much

My LS110 has version 3.0, I'll upload 3.3 to it tonight. Don't quite understand the "new Keypad controller" part (what new keypad controller?)

 Finally figured out how to get the projector into "connect" mode.

The instructions had me stumped until....

(I had the power on)

With the USB cable connected and the LS110 powered OFF (standby if you like).

1. Run FLASHUSB on your PC and select ls110.dld

2. Press (and release) the Green power button

3. quickly, press and hold both the source and standby buttons on the LS110

4. if you did everything right windows should prompt you for IFCUSB.SYS

5. you should now be connected, press the download button in FLASHUSB

Takes less than a minute to send the files. Hope this helps if you find yourself wondering why it does'nt connect.

I have 2 questions now i guess :

1) im still trying to get the cable from infocus they keep claiming

they shipped it as part of the normal cable set comming with the ls110. How did you get the M1-DA cable you need to use ?.

2) did the upgrade work and did it solve all the problems with progresive

pal and menu handing ?

Thx in advance,

Daniel.

The cable came from Duocom Canada (in Toronto) and cost me $80CDn. Definitely did not come with the projector. I used the SP-DVI-A analog version of the cable as I needed it for a LP335 projector at work that lost its VGA cable.

Here's a link to M1-DA Digital (DVI) Computer Cable with USB, it will work too.

We're NTSC here in Canada, but the 576p seems to be PAL progressive. Too bad they didnt put a standard USB connector on the LS110. I'll buy a M1-DA when DVD with DVI is available. I use a DVI LCD monitor (Viewsonic VG191b) and I hate the analog mode; I can see ghosting at its native 1280x1024 setting but with DVI it's pixel perfect.:D

Ahh sorry for the pal questions i asumed since the update was mostly pal related you where using that without checking your location. I will test and post the results once i get the cable. Your info on how to perform the upgrade will help alot im sure. The reason i asked about the cable is that infocus (local rep) keeps claiming its default but refuses to check a new box (well last friday ill explain it to him on monday again, if he keeps claiming its default ill demand one for free since i didn't get it :) ).

Is there a sw update also for Toshiba MT5. I know it´s the same PJ, but at start-up the screen is from toshiba??

And is it possible to update via serial cable??? I run a Macintosh with a emulator, with a serial emulator.

Thanks

Hai,

I think it all depends on how infocus makes deals with the other makers, Changes are that several will be getting the fixes from them and will do their own update others might do some work by themselfs (tuning).

I would ask them with infocus url in hand to show them a fix is possible

with their projector for the problems 3.3 seems to fix. Thats stated sofar we don't have anyone on the board yet who did the update in PAL country to see how well it works.

I hope to get the cable this week and report asap on what happened.

Pretty sure they mean the standard keypad with New LEDs.

Personally I use the serial port for to control the LS110.

it's faster than any other method so far.

(pwr1) turns LS110 on

(asr1) = 16:9 mode

(arz3) = enhanced widescreen mode (anamorphic)

Working on a custom microcontroller version, it will use the rs232 output of my Denon 4802 to determine the LS110 settings.

Ie: TV = 4:3 mode native

DVD = 16:9 enhanced

Stereo off = PJ Off

and a couple of pushbuttons for quick mode settings (macros)

Oh!!! Very interesting, Will!

Can you explain a bit about the rs232? Daoes the Denon is a AV Reciever or a DVD Player? Can you enter into your Denon the different codes for controling the unit?? I have a Pronto, and it is nearly impossible to control the unit, caus it´s sooo slow!!

I´d be very interestes in either software update for the toshiba, cause it speeds up the menues or the rs232 controling of the unit!!!

Thanks

Again to the RS232: I think there must be IR codes that do the same as the RS232 codes. I heared something simmilar. Isn´t it possibe to work them out?

You can get to most of the options with the IR remote, It's pretty awkward though. The RS232 mode is far better, the full list of serial commands can be found in the 3.3 firmware .zip file. It's a breeze to change anything, and no on-screen menus when you are trying to calibrate the PJ. The serial mode allows for query type questions to see settings. ie: (src?) will tell you what source the projector is watching. There are a few commands that can only be set from the serial port. If you want to get fancy you could use TCPCOM and use telnet commands. Or really fancy and use a Wireless Client Bridge (Symbols CB-1000) and wirelessly 802.11b run the PJ:p This would also make your LS110 like a LP790 (well not really;) )
