Well, it looks like it's about time to replace the lamp in my Infocus SP-7210. I think I'm at about 2100 hours, running on regular lamp mode (switched from ECO mode maybe 500 hours ago). Anyways, this is the first time I've had to consider replacing the lamp.

I noticed that a lot of places sell just the bare bulb, maybe for $200-$300. Is this a good way to go? Any recommendations? Please PM if you can suggest any specific retailers or pricing. Thank you!

Is there any difference between the generic brand and the other bulbs that are supposedly "original manufacturer"? I have seen some listings also for "Osram" or "Philips" brand.

So, I am inferring that buying a bare bulb is okay.

Hi,

I'd be interested in personal experiences or advice regarding what is involved in replacing a bare bulb in an existing housing.

Thanks.

Actually, I ended up getting a full lamp with housing replacement from this place called Electrified.com as recommended above. It was only $200 or so with shipping...that's cheaper than the bare bulbs that I was looking at on eBay, etc.

Hi,

So the transaction went well, and you didn't have any performance issues using a generic OEM replacement instead of an InFocus replacement?

Thanks.

jwtseng,

Can you post a follow up after you have it installed and running? That sounds like a great price. I am waiting for my 7205 to prompt me. This has been the longest bulb life I've ever had out of my 7205.

Well I got to tweaking my system with an Infocus 7205 projector and checked the hours on it, turns out I had only 694 hours I thought it must be around 1600 and this was on the lamp that came with the projector around 3-4 years ago. Anyway I up it into high power mode and I'm doing more of my tweaking and then I look up at the screen and it's blank

I reboot the projector do all I can but all I get is a flash of light and then nothing. I came here and found out about Electrified.com and promptly ordered the SP-06 (something like that) replacement lamp. All the while I was hoping it's the lamp and nothing more.

Lamp came ($195 includ. shipping) with housing popped it in to projector and voila things are back to normal.

Lamp and housing from Electrified.com are spot on and for the price!
