Now by all means this tv looks amazing. It has amazing colors contrast and just says wow. But to me, it really doesen't matter, im a gamer a hardcore gamer. So i bought this tv i heard it was really good and performed well. For most cases this is correct, but this is not for my case which gets down to my issue. I was playing homefront and call of duty Black ops to test out my delay, and at first with everything on the AMP and settings it felt like i had 20 pound wrist weights on my arms, it was just so bad i had no ground on anyone in a gun fight i mean i could hardly follow my target, i disable the AMP same thing its crappy, i modified it a bit and still crappy. I enabled game mode now, and well game mode does take an edge off but now i go from 20 pound weights to 5 pounds. Still not good enough for me. Im used to the feel of a Tube tv i mean they are epic for responce, and i feel im the way im supposed to be, but for this tv i wanna give it a shot. Which now leads me to my question. How do i reduce the input delay more, does anyone know any special calibarations, or any settings i could use, i heard about PC mode and dont know much about it, im also using a High speed HDMI cable in HDMI slot 2. Idk what else to do beyond this point im thinking of just returning it and getting the panasonic s30 plasma. Please anyone give me some insight on to keeping this TV, thank you.

Samsungs are well-known for their amazing picture quality, but they are also well-known for having significant lag when it comes to playing games. If you are truly a hard core gamer, Samsung is NOT for you.

Most gamers like Sharp, Panasonic, LG, and Sony in that order.

As ive heard, I mean from what alot of fourms are saying, LCD's are not the way to go for gamers, even though markets make them sound amazing they really arent, alot of users who seem to know their stuff say go for plasma and dont fear the reaper when it comes to burn ins, i mean idk what to believe i never owned a plasma but if it gives no input delay and gives me strait source gaming ill go, but still i would like to try out this tv if anyone has any idea how to tweak my tv ill try it, and thanks for your reply jim.

A plasma WILL REQUIRE light gaming the first 100 hours. After 100 hours you can darn near do whatever you want to it. Panasonics* have a SD card slot and you can download the "100 hour slides" and leave the TV on running on the SD card.

LG/Panasonic/Samsung all have the same 100 hour break in. Once you've done that properly...the TV is good to go.

*I think all models of Panasonic have an SD card slot. Regardless so do some(maybe all???) models of LG and Samsung.

Granted actual input lag measurements I have to be done on the models, but say if the Samsungs are down in the ~30ms of input lag with game mode on, are there any plasma or lcd sets today that have been proven to have drastically better numbers?

Im not arguing that samsung sets are good for input lag (i own 2 and know game mode is a must), but realistically if you are looking at any large tv's today regardless of manufacturer, I was under the assumption that they just dont get down to the

Well even with game mode, i mentioned before it helps but its not where i wanna be, and i have heard plasmas perform better, and samsungs are bad with this but i still am kinda in the dark it would be nice to know some way to calibrate it. But it seems to be difficult to find out. so i am bending more on a plasma, but again if anyone does have any idea for calibrations. Or something i could do thank you, and thank you for your reply cleh.

certainly
and that question wasn't directed at you, more-so the community.

I unfortunately do now know of any better way to calibrate the sets beyond what you have already done. Maybe by going into the service menu there is a way to make sure that all possible processing effects are turned off. (i have never done this, nor played with it)

- as weird as it was at the time, before I bought my plasma I actually brought my ps3 into bestbuy and plugged it in to the set and powered it on. Put on batman begins bluray for a bit, and then tried modern warfare 2. They didnt care and I am very glad I did. Ended up buying the set later that week. If you end up not being able to adjust the D630, you can always go try out some different models. good luck either way!

Not an issue with my 60Hz 32" D550; perhaps the extra processing on the 120Hz models adds input lag?

Hogwash; I gamed on my 2008 Panasonic Plasma from the very beginning in Vivid mode (don't ask, I actually though it looked good at the time). No burn-in, no persistent image retention, no harm done. Also, the whole break in slides thing is total bs in my opinion and is based on paranoia not science. At least one pro calibrator on the display calibration forum has posted this same viewpoint a number of times.

Idk why my model has it, but i don't believe its because of the extra processing, in essence it should make it better, and game mode should disable all the extra features which it helps but still no dice. This topic still yet seems to have no light, so i decided I'm going to return the samsung, i mean its a great tv its just not designed for gaming. The panasonic Plasma, with its S30 or st30 models may be my best option, and if any one supports this claim please give me feed back, and thank you for all your reply's.
