I have a Mitsubishi HC4900 and I am just passing the 2000 hour mark on its second bulb. Since my first bulb went after 2200 hours, I ordered a new one last week so that I'm ready for when the current one goes. However, I'm now thinking that it might be best to install the new bulb right away and keep the current "2000 hour" one as a backup for down the road.

Would there be any issues using my current bulb in the future if it's sitting on the shelf for say 12+ months?

Thanks

I think replacing now and holding onto the old bulb is the right approach. Lamp warranties usually start from date of purchase not installation, so find out now if you have a defective bulb. Your old bulb makes a good emergency backup and should be fine if stored with some care
