Installation Help Needed - DLP Projector

509 Views 6 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  dogmanky
1st time poster - just received my 1st new projector - need a little help with the set-up.

I converted my living room into a HT - I have a Optoma ez 739 projector - 18' throw distance - 116" screen - I cut out a 14" x 8" hole approx 5' above my couch, the projector will permanently live on top of my kitchen cabinets and it projects a great image into the living room.

Here is the problem - I have to tilt the projector from the back to the front in order to get a image on the screen correctly - it's secure and it won't fall but rather than proping it up with wood - can anyone offer a sugestion on how to permantly fix the problem - I don't want to chance a accident happening??

Can anyone suggest a cheap line doubler to boost - svideo to component?

Thanks in advance.

HMM, I am not sure if I understand this. So you have a projector in your kitchen that is on cabinets but you have to tilt the projector down to get an image on the screen in the other room? Is your projector set to ceiling mode? If it isnot, set it to ceiling mode and turn the projector upside down to get the image right side up. That should get the image closer to where it needs to be.
And a good line doubler would be the DVDO iScan Ultra.

Thanks for the suggestion! If I turn the unit upside down it will be resting on its outer shell - is that OK for the unit?? I suppose attaching it upside down with a mount would work - but the projector is 5" wide and the opening is approx 8" - it doesn't leave much room. Do they make a ceiling mount with a 2" drop. Thanks again!
Projector in the kitchen? Not a good idea. Take a look at the range's filter and you'll see tons of grease. You don't want that in your projector.
Your 739 appears to have the same tripod mounting hole in the bottom as my H30 from what I can see in the manual. Check my gallery for shots of a Panavise CCTV mount that some of us H30 owners used with great results. I have since redone that pathetic side hanging mounting job to have the arm of the mount running parallel to the light beam if ya know what I mean. If you get the 6" version of that mount- you could probably get the distance to the ceiling down to about 2-3". Here is the mount- http://www.panavise.com/nf/cctv/cctv_deluxe.html You can find it for under $30 several places by searching. Use a safety cable (not shown in my photos)

Good point IVO makes- no fried food for you! :)

Cheers!

You could always get something like a big rubber football Kicking Tee or something similar in design. Spend an hour in Lowes and Walmanrt.. I bet you can McGuyver something pretty cheap. :)
