Our church just bought the Infocus LP790. I need to know the best way to connect a DVD player (has component out) and a computer to the projector that will be installed approx. 75 ft away. Would it be best to use component for the video and then run a separate line (what kind?) for the computer? Or should we run a two lines to a "switching box" and then just have one line going to the projector? The more I try to research this the worse it gets. The Infocus LP790 specs are here: Link

Thanks alot for any help you can give!

2 Cables, a component cable and a VGA (heavily shielded) for the PC. That would be the easiest

you can make your own cable cheaper by using rg-6u and bnc conectors to a vga breakout connector

hi jeff,

I just installed an Infocus LP790 in a home and let me tell you, it's been rough. Usually my company deals just with the screenplay series from Infocus but we were dealing with a room that had windows 3 stories high. The brightest projector was a must. So, I've been running into the problems of getting a HD cable feed to work and also the Progressive scan DVD player to work.

A quick note, the DVD player will not work through the RGBHV BNC connectors. I've been on the phone with Infocus numerous times and they finally informed me that any HD feed has to go through the Computer 2 15-pin VGA port.

So then i asked about a component hookup for a DVD player. Well, most DVD players put out a 480i/480p signal depending on the brand. The VGA port only accepts 720 or 1080i. This is where i'm stuck. The 480 signal needs to be scaled to a 720 or 1080 signal to get the good picture. I tried hooking it up with yellow composite and s-video and the picture was less than impressive. Currently i'm looking for a transcoder/video scaler combo to fix my picture woes. I'll keep you updated.
