Installing boots on cable

642 Views 3 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  video321
I've got some CB-05 boots and Canare RG-6 with different connector types (BNC, RCA) to make patch cables. Having trouble installing the boots over the cable - very tight, won't move down the cable far enough to all strip/crimp.

What's the best way to ease the installation of the boots over the cable?

Heat the boots first and they should slide on easier.
Try white hand cleaner from the auto parts store.

It worked for putting handlebar grips on bicycles years ago.
