Installing InsulShield question

306 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  starscomeout
Hi All,

I will be installing my InsulShield in about a week and was wondering the best way to attach it to the drywall. I was thinking about using a light coat of spray-adhesive sprayed directly onto the drywall to hold the InsulShield, or should I use staples? If using staples, where should I place them, only around the edges or where?

We just got through installing about 2 rolls of it. Putting it on the walls wasn't too difficult when we used the 3M 77 and 78 spray adhesive. I think the 78 had a 'wider' spray and worked better. The drywall did have a coat of primer, which I think made it work better. There were some spots especially on the ceilings where we used either screws or roofing nails, but that was done very sparingly. the spray adhesive worked very well.

Elmers Glue puts out a spray adhesive, but we found that the 3M worked better and it comes in bigger cans and easily found at your nearest 'Home Improvement' store.
I believe most of the installations have been completed by simply placing a minimum number of staples into the Insulshield. Just enough to hold it up in place and get it covered.
Thanks Guys,

I appreciate the help.
