I've been waffling between receivers for months. First thought denon avr-4311 was all me, but these Integras seem to have less problems and all the same features minus 11.2 capability.

so . . .

Is the 80.2 worth the extra money ($800)?

Here's what audioholics has to say about the 70.2:

"If you are looking for something a little cheaper, Integra has simultaneously announced the DTR-70.2. This receiver sports almost all the same features except for slightly less power, a few less inputs, and without the separate transformers and power supplies for $2000."

If I'm going to power my front 3 with can emotiva xpa-3, is the separate transformers and power supplies worth spending the extra money for?

which is a better option: 80.2 on it's own, or 70.2 + xpa-3?

they are roughly the same price.

What about the difference between 24 and 32-bit burr-brown DACs?

help!

Hmmm. Given the fact that the Emotiva XPA-3 weighs as much as the DTR 80.2, and almost certainly contains more filter capacitance, and only has to power 3 channels, you have to figure you are better of for the front 3 channels.

That will then take substantial load off the receiver which can power the other channels. So my bet is on the cheaper receiver + the XPA-3, but it's hard to say for certain.

I personally don't believe in the significance of the difference in DACs. Others may disagree with me.

that's definitely the way I was leaning, especially since the 70.2 + xpa-3 is actually cheaper by about $300.

I've heard both sides of the story about DACs but haven't heard any receivers side by side with the exact same equipment to be able to compare. sometimes it seems like people have a point, other times it seems that they are just defending the gear they own.

anyway, thanks for the reply. hopefully some more 70.2 owner's will chime in either here or on the official 70.2 forum.

I don't want to make a new thread , I have a similar question.

An authorized dealer wants to sell me a NIB DTR-70.1 for $1400+tx or ~$1533

Another guy has a DTR-80.1 refurbished for $1900 (probably ~$1970 shippped)

Is the 80.1 that much better than the 70.1 ? Id sorta rather have a NIB piece rather then a refurbished and the 70.1 is ~$500 cheaper.

Any input is appreciated.
