DTR 5.4, from 2002-2003. why cant i listen to 5.1 AND zone 2, without the AVR switching the main zone to "stereo"? yes i have the surr backs set to zone 2. thanks in advance!

The 5.4 is only a 6.1 AVR rather than a 7.1 AVR which would then allow 5.1 in the main zone. So in order to provide 2 channels to Zone 2 it must apparently drop back to 2.1 in the main zone.

That's the same with my DTR 6.4. If you want to run 5.1 and 2.0, you need an external amp for Zone 2.

so heres the weird thing, i have a second amp powering zone 2, and it still does the same thing. zone 2 out via L/R RCA to the amp, and no speakers connected to zone 2 at all on the AVR
