Integrating an HD200 with a CRT FP

I tried watching the Soprano's on D* 509 via an HD200 STB into my VPH-1251 last sunday and ended up with a screwy aspect ratio.

when the STB is in either an 1080i/720P mode, AR adjustment via the STB is diabled. The image displayed on my 4;3 screen was vertically squeezed (tall & thin), with black bars on the left & right. However, 480i/480P material displays fine as 4:3. I would think that the HD200 would output a 16:9 AR when recieiving an HD signal. I have dedicated the "A" input on my 1251 to DVD and utilize the memories for various AR for DVD. The "B" input is dedicated to the STB, and as such does not have the flexibility of assigning multiple aspect ratios. Consequently, if I vertically squeeze the image described above, I will have a 4:3 image inside my 4:3 screen with black bands on all sides. Additionaly, if I perform the squeeze on the "B" input, it will distort all other 480i &P programing from the STB.

Has anyone used the HD200 with their projector and/or shed some light on this dilemma?

Any input appreciated.
