There was a slew of NAB related press releases today. Here are links to the two I found most interesting.

The first relates to potential HDTV TiVo-like functionality.

Maxtor(R) Corporation and VividLogic Enable Digital Video Recorder, Digital TV And Set-Top Box Interoperability

The second, although datacasting related, has some good info about the latest VSB chips, specifically the Broadcom BCM3510. When reading the press release, you will see a reference to KOIN. That is Lee Wood's station.

iBlast Announces Results of First Phase Testing of Data Broadcasting Network

Also, check out Mark's Monday Memo - 2001 April 23. It discusses modifications to 8-VSB that provide very good multipath resistance but are compatible with current receivers.

Larry,

I think the article on the improvements in 8VSB dramatically show the wisdom of sticking with the current system as opposed to taking some new path. The dramatic increase in successes where earlier generation receivers failed, is indicative of the significant improvements of 8VSB.
