I'm assuming the soft focus was just a part of the way they made those movies as I've seen quite a few older anime movies with it. Could they even get rid of it if they wanted? I kinda like it, brings back memories.

Upscale or not, the Region 1 DVD has horrible macroblocking, so I'm still looking forward to this.

Yep, I finally pick up the DVD and about a month later the Blu-ray is announced.

The R1 looks awful, so this has GOT to be a massive step forward - even if it's an upscale.
