IPTV fibre optic vs Satellite dish+Receiver

I just wanted to ask what product would offer the better HD picture: IPTV fibre-optic service with streaming HD content, or the more traditional satellite dish with a HD receiver?

Keep in mind that the fibre optic broadband speeds I have access to are 65mb.

Opinions on the various streaming services (see separate AVS section) seems to be that PQ is noticeably less than cable and DBS (U.S. anyway), the latter offering MPEG-4. Some comments refer to DVD-like streaming PQ. While a 64-Mbps fiber system, especially MPEG-4 based, should be able to offer the best PQ, with Blu-ray-like bitrates, the trend--as with cable and DBS--seems to be greater numbers of channels, not piping out higher quality. It would be interesting to hear if this also applies to the newer 1-Gbps fiber systems in some Asian countries. -- John
I think the issue with internet provided video, is that it is the source bitrate that limits the quality, not the fibre-optic media that the video is carried over.

If you are streaming Netflix or Lovefilm over a fibre optic internet connection capable of delivering 1Gbps bitrates, but the Netflix bitrate is still 3Mbs H264, then 3Mbs H264 is what you get. It may mean that there is very little buffering time and the connection is rock solid though...

If your ISP (who is providing the fibre optic connection) also provides content, and they provide it at 20Mbs H264, then that is a different story...
Yes, the same company providing the fibre optic connection also provides the HD content...

I guess then it will depend on the decisions taken by your fibre-optic IP connection provider.

Do they provide live linear channels - local stations, national networks like ESPN, Discovery etc., or are they just providing VOD? If that is the case then how they source the live linear feeds and how they encode them will play a part.

I think the short answer is that it is difficult to tell without knowing more about the service provider and what they do.
Thanks for your help.

I have another question, I am planning to have 1 dish with 3 satellites (3 LNBs). I want Hotbird 13e, Arabsat and Nilesat which is possible to have all on 1 dish if you live in the Middle East. Do you think that will weaken picture quality, if I use 3 LNBs for 1 dish? I will be using Nilesat for the HD channels. I am guessing HD would be better off with one dedicated dish?
