I'm watching the IRL race on VERSUS tonight and the video quality is an absolute joke. Past races I've seen don't look great, but today's race is awful. I've seen it on both Cox cable and on DirecTV.

Dish Network is the same, so it seems to be a problem with VS. When they air on ABC they look WAY better.

With the Cup race being rained out, today was the first time I had a chance to catch an IRL race on Vs. The PQ was pretty bad. Looked real grainy. One good thing about the broadcast was hearing Bob Jenkins over the airwaves again. He needs to be back doing NASCAR.

^^ What about FIOS & Cable users reporting the same poor PQ on VS?

BTW, I can see that just in the past year, with all the new HD channel additions, the PQ on E* has drastically gotten worse on all HD channels. Watching sports hurts my eyes. Even my favorite channel NatGeo looks bad most of the time.

I was watching qualifying from Sonoma yesterday, and the amount of pixelation and macroblocking was absolutely NUTS.

It was absolutely horrible. I don't think the rest of the VERSUS productions look this bad, it just seemed to be for the IRL stuff.

It seems like the uplink from Indy Productions to VERSUS is really low bitrate or something. Weird.

Is this not something new? Remember the NHL Playoffs on VS. compared to NBC even on D*. OTA was greatness but even the MPEG4 LIL PQ was like night and day. VS. PQ was so horrible with the scan lines and all< i had to force the STB to 720p just to make it watchable.

The race itself looked OK to me via DirecTV. Actually it looked very good.

Watching on the E* dvr now, looks the same UGLY to me. Jaggies, moire patterns in fine detail, severe compression macroblocking on fast motion or scene fades, clay faces and moving solids.

Too bad no one is listening at VS, suspect it will not be fixed.
