Is a Return/Open Box worth the risk?

My local Sam's has a Westinghouse 46" LCD that was returned by a customer that supposedly wanted a larger set. He supposedly had it for less than 2 weeks. They are selling it as is, with no option to buy an extended warranty which is their policy because the TV is no longer considered new. It is a whopping almost 40% off price on an already well priced LCD. They will allow me 7 days to try it out and if I'm not happy then I can return it. Supposedly, it comes with a full 1 year manufactures warranty.

I guess my question is, what are your opinons on taking such a risk? If it looks good out of the box what are the chances it might go belly up? LCDs from what I read are pretty reliable, so how much risk am I running? I purchased a DLP last weekend and like it, but the room it's in has a lot of sunlight in the day, so perhaps a projection wasn't such a good idea. This LCD is almost the same size as the DLP, and the price is a little cheaper. LCD also has a QAM tuner, which the DLP doesn't, but the DLP has an extra HDMI input.

Any opinions/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

You can't beat 40% off. It will have some warranty and you can return it.

I'd buy it if it was the TV I was shopping.
At that price, I would buy it. I like Westinghouse, my dual monitor displays are both 17" Widescreen Westinghouse monitors. I saw the TV you are talking about last weekend. You won't find many 46" LCDs for that cheap.
