Hey has anyone heard that ABC is going to be switching to a 1080i HD broadcast instead of a 720p HD broadcast?

720p comes from the network, but the local ABC affiliates can side-convert to 1080i, if so desired.

My DST50 is set to "all modes", and my Sampo can accept

720p or 1080i. The DST50 displays 1080i, which is why

I believe the local Dallas affiliate is broadcasting

season so ABC broadcast MNF at 1080i in 2000-2001.

ABC did not broadcast MNF in HDTV in 2000-2001.


They have said there will be no HDTV MNF for 2001-2002.

I think you're probably right about no HDTV

MNF feed last season in 2000-2001. I thought

that maybe it was 1080i but now think the feed

wasn't HDTV (not 720p and also not 1080i) in

2000-2001.

Well here in DC we are lucky enough to have WJLA which is great. They get ABCs 720p signal but instead of confusing us with a 720p signal they go ahead and pass on the NTSC signal. So nice of them.

What's the story with WJLA? I have channels 39-1 and 39-2 from them but there is never a broadcast on 39-1. I get plenty of signal and a good picture on 39-2.


Same thing for WBAL 59-1 and 59-2.

Can someone confirm that ABC will not be broadcasting MNF in HD this upcoming season? (2001-02) What a disappointment if that's true.


That was one of the few HD broadcasts I was looking forward to.

I agree with you.


I read that far less than 2 percent of American families

have any HDTV tuner in their home. Maybe ABC thinks the

HD broadcast audience for MNF is tiny in 2001-02.

DC ABC spits out 480P 4:3 and has no plans to go to 1080i last time I talked to them.


ABC in Baltimore has 720P 16:9, 480P 4:3, and a weather map.

Hot: I live in Boulder and was wondering if you have any idea if we are our own market, or if we piggyback off of Denver's. I'm assuming since Boulder is so small (100,000 people) we get more or less the same programming Denver gets... ??
