Is an RG6u component cable quality? Or just marketing BS?

907 Views 8 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  Ratman
I need a longer run component cable (25 feet) and have come across a component cable that sure sounds good on paper (And great price). The main marketing point seems to be that it's constructed of RG6u cable? I thought only RF cables used this. Is this a desirable thing for component cables?

Cool. Thanks!
The better component cables use good 75ohm coax - has plenty of bandwidth capability.
Any video cable should be rated @ 75 Ohms. It's not a bandwidth issue as much as a 'signal loss' issue over distance.
That makes sense. Gonna place the order now. Thanks, everyone.
I trust that the cable you're buying has a 100% copper center conductor and not copper over steel. The former is what you want for your connections while the latter is suitable for cable or satellite.
I have a similar question. I frequently read up on these forums and get suck up into it, only to realized what i did following these advices sometime might not be the best. I built a 25 ft RG6 (with copper center conductor) cable to connect the subwoofer. Im wonder if this is the good ideal, or is it not recommanded for audio signal? thank you
It's fine....
