Hi guys, could u lease tell me if an SDI Connection is the same as an av-in ?


I would like to buy the item above for recording AV (analogic) signals. It seems it can support HD-SDI Input....is it the same as AV-IN ?

SDI is a digital audio video interface (serial digital interface). It is standard definition, and is a broadcast standard (not consumer). HD-SDI is the HD version. It uses a single coaxial cable with a BNC connector.

an I connect an video composite to a HD-SDi connector using a BNS connector ?

No, it would connect, but the signal is not compatible. BNC for analog video is just a composite video signal with no audio (like an RCA video plug). BNC for SDI handles digital video, audio, and timecode. Perhaps Blackmagic has another device with an analog composite AV input?

I noticed that it does NOT record on an hard disk or card..it seems it needs to be connected to a pc..am I correct ?
