I was thinkin' of picking up some dipoles but they only go down to 130hz. I was going to cross over at 80hz... so this would create a bass hole if I'm not mistaken.


But there will not be a hole if no info below 130 is sent to the rears anyway... in 5.1 mixes (primarily films) is there a lot of info below 130hz sent to the rear surrounds?

Of course! There's plenty of bass info in the surround channels; on most modern soundtracks, anyway. A whole lot of bass info. They can even be run as LARGE if you have a truly large rear speaker.


DD and DTS are discreet, full-range surround formats. A good reason not to use dipole speakers.
