Is anyone else just enjoying their TV without stressing over it?

I come here for entertainment mostly, and maybe to learn a few things. I like hearing people's opinions and what they've got going on.

I've been in the game long enough to know what the deal is. You can pick apart your device if you want, or you can just enjoy it.

Nothing is perfect. So my question is, are you here to find things wrong with your TV, or just to discuss your TV? Are we actively looking for things that are wrong?

Same here. I posted in the 5% gray scale thread and saw a lot of pics that wouldn't be visible to the naked eye.

Does it really matter? I mean unless it's something extreme. I understand considering the price of these devices people get nervous and want the best they can get for their dollar. But sometimes it seems to go into the paranoia category. lol. It's fun to talk about but at the end of the day maybe we should step back and say, "I won't get the best panel of all time".

Just saw it, your uniformity is gtg. Yeah that thread can cause anxiety for sure...but with good reason.

I wasn't even stressing over it tbh because I have no desire to take it back. Just looking for opinions.

I see so many who are ready to take their sets back because of perceived imperfections. Seems like such a gamble to me. Speaking as someone who had to return a DOA CX that's not a fun thing to do.

I don't stress over perfect picture because I upgrade my TVs every year anyway. More often than my phone which I do every 2 years. Yeah, I got a problem.

The only reason I upgraded from a C8 was because of the 4K120fps issue, which it couldn't do.

Don't see me upgrading from a C1 for quite a while.

I'm still using a LG 65" B6. The input lag is a little bit more than I would like and I have close over 11K hours on it. I plan on upgrading to an 83" in the next year or so. It's not going to be a perfect set either, so I just enjoy it since it's most likely the best set I can reasonably afford.

Enjoying the hell out of my 65 inch a90j.

Will upgrade to the next gen 77 inch as soon as there is improvement as I will not spend money to simply get a larger size unless PQ is a definitive upgrade as well...

I'm good with my Sony A1E 55", the only reason I will upgrade when/if OLED improve a bite more is to get a bigger screen.

I don’t dress over it…anymore. I had an awful experience trying to buy a TV when I jumped on the OLED bandwagon. A TV! Anyway, it still has its faults but I don’t care. I’m watching for the content not the picture quality. I still miss my 500M. Yeah overall my OLED beats it, but the 500M was special (to me) every time I fired up a movie. Perfect? No. Obvious faults? Nope.

I might try again in the fall but it’s looking less and less likely after reading some of the issues and seeing some of the screenshots. I’m not sure I need the stress. :)

Yup ! A big one!
I am loving my 77 a80j. It has gotten me into watching movies again due to its great picture quality. Funny enough, I sometimes get taken out of movies because I sit there thinking “wow this picture looks so good….okay focus on the plot….but look at that detail…...focus” lol

I love the topic of this thread. I get the feeling that many here intensely scrutinize their new display from inches away, and intensely study slides, looking for any small defect, rather than sitting back, watching movies, and enjoying it. There is no such thing as a perfect display, and if I don't see any major defects with normal content, I for one don't worry or obsess about it.

I think some do. There have been certain complaints that I wouldn't even notice. I don't look for dead pixels anymore.

I agree there's no perfect anything, but to me banding, tint, and grids are a little different than saying a TV can't be calibrated to perfection. Or the blacks are not quite deep enough. The issues we have seen here are adding to the picture in a way that I think is unacceptable.
When I'm watching TV, I'm watching the overall content, not focusing on hairs, pores & pixels.

My LG OLED was professionally calibrated six years ago
I haven't touched the settings since and still rock that curved, non-4K flatscreen :)

I think we're on the same page. Any display with obvious defects, such as banding or grids that are visible at normal viewing distances with normal content, should be returned. But many here obsess over minute issues not even visible in normal content, and I have seen posts from some who have returned 6 displays in a row and then complain how the store gives them a hard time:rolleyes:.

The fork in the road -- which trips a lot of people up, including me -- is what one defines to be "normal content". For example, if "normal content" is intended to include dark panning shots.

Which probably means I am not in the camp of people able to just enjoy the TV without stressing over it, but I'm getting there. Twelve steps. LOL.

What I mean by normal content are movies and TV shows, as opposed to slides showing minor issues not seen in movies/shows at normal distances.
Maybe some of the complaints are due to unrealistic expectations. IMO, OLEDs are the best tech currently available, but they are not perfect. 1080i/720p material will look better on a 1080p plasma than any 4k display. And OLEDs will not handle motion as well as a Kuro. There simply is no perfect display.
