there aren't more HD DVD sales. I was kind of hoping that there would be more BOGOs or 3-for-2 deals after Warner's announcement. I know it's after Christmas and all, and pricing sales aren't as prevalent, but it seems they'd be doing more considering how much HD DVD software sales fell the week after Warner's announcement.

Yes, they've run them, but BD's had about 9 pages of films to HD-DVD's 3 pages. BDs has had 3x the titles and the HD-DVD selection has been mediocre at best.

The #1 reason that HD DVD sales have paled in comparison is because there hasn't been any compelling new releases by Universal or Paramount pretty much the whole month of January while BD titles such as 3:10 to Yuma and Sunshine have been very popular. Hard to get sales if you don't put out something new for people to buy.

Without inciting any rude responses, if you are looking for good deals on HD DVD software then Ebay is the place to go. There are more then a few people dumping quite a bit on their.

I'm not surprised that there aren't any "firesales" as I expect the OP was suggesting. They don't want to incite panic that the end is in fact here and lose the rest of their studio support. I'll be waiting for the Jack Ryan Collection to come out and keep my eyes open for titles that I want in the mean time.
IMO, the only way HD-DVD even attempts to really get back into this is to go for $20 new releases like the DVD's are set at. On the other hand I'm not totally sure how a price point is established, but I'd think the studios have a hand in how much a new release would cost. Would the studios go for something like that? To me there doesn't seem like too much incentive for the HD-DVD studios to cut their own throats in order to sale more HD-DVD's at a lower profit point...they'll just switch over.
My fear is that we will see more combo titles to give the end-user more confidence that there's a "fall back" plan of sorts. I'm not a big fan of combo's like many on here, mainly because you can't touch either side of the disk and god forbid you blemish the HD-DVD side.
