Most of these HD DVD / BD Players are equipped with a computer based DRIVE.

Do you think that this kind of mechanism will remain or will it soon turn out to be like a regular DVD player with a simple and sleek optical drive and dragon pick-up system ?

I always felt that computer based drives are prone to operational quirks causing many issues in playback. Also they aren't very reliable and durable.

Please throw your views and correct me if I am wrong.

why would you think that? it a different form factor and nothing else. CPU style drives can and usually are very reliable. THey're just bigger.
