Some advice please.

I currently have an XGA Eiki LCD projector (my first and only). I am being offered a DAVIS DL450 with less than 500 hours for about 1K.

I am relatively pleased with the Eiki but with all the positives written on the Davis, I am very tempted.

Should I go for it and make the change?

Thanks for opinions and advices.

To get the best out of this projector, you'll need something like a HTPC or Quadscan/Iscan/DVDO etc.

It has a poor internal scaler, and like Phat' said, it needs external scaling to get excellent results.

Thanks Bob, you are right. It's a no-brainer. I will do it!

Phat, hey, give me a break! When I blow big bucks like this (ha ha), I expect perfection, be it with a s-video or even COMPOSITE cable http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif . Seriously, with your guy's help, I am fast getting over my newbie stage.

Gary, you are dead on. I am planning on an eventual HTPC but for now, that S-VIDEO cable will have to work its magic http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/wink.gif .

Thank you all for your advices.

MakMak,

If you do get it, Phat Phreddy and Gary are absolutely right. You won't like what you see with S-Video.

Before you decide whether to keep it be sure and see what it can do with a PC which can play DVD. It doesn't have to be anything fancy to see the difference. The difference is huge.

Bob
