I have seen so much on porn in the hd-dvd section of the forum of late and i just cannot understand the enthusiasm. I am sure alot of voyeurs are happy but really how many porn movies did u people buy on dvd. I myself bought 4 total and have 500 other dvds. I really don't think porn is that big a deal for this format war, but maybe i am wrong. I personally would be more excited to see good films being announced-with all this excitement about porn you would think a bunch of blockbuster films were coming to hd-dvd. For those of you that own 100s of porno movies on dvd more power too you, but i don't think the majority of people are really going to care. I can tell u this even if u have alot of porn i am sure it is hidden away (like under your bed), thats not something people like to advertise to everyone. A large dvd collection of regular movies is something to be proud of and you are probably putting them on display, not hidding them under your bed.

There's so much arguing back and forth on how much it will affect the format war. Unfortunately, we can argue as much as we want, but the simple truth is that we cannot see into the future and will have to wait and see what happens. The only thing that we do know for certain is that it can only help, and not hurt HD-DVD.

The truth is, you probably won't get an honest answer. There are a lot of people who watch it, but will never admit it.


I knew a guy who owned an adult bookstore one time. He told me how people parked two or three blocks away at a car dealership and walked to the store. He said he knew one of them was a preacher.


So a lot of people who watch it don't want anyone to know it.


Personally, I've never bought porn tapes or dvds (or downloads).

I guess some people lead lonely...lonely lives. I never could understand when you can do what they are doing in the videos...why one would waste money to watch. I always thought there was someone out there for everybody. I guess that thinking is flawed.

I have friends who love to watch porn w/ their significant others - those are usually the ppl who buy porn in optical discs. The lonely ones you are referring to usually d/l porn for free online

I myself am excited in more ways than one that porn is coming to hd-dvd. As an owner of several hdtv's why wouldn't I want all my content in hd. Only bought one x-rated movie last year and it was hddvd but for computer use only. It sucks (no pun intended) to watch on a small computer screen.

I've heard of poor souls who like that stuff but not me.

Anyway for me porn in HD is off the radar. There are unlimted supplies of it on the internet ,as we all know, and unlike the 80's, this probably will be most folks primary means of viewing it rather than buying or renting discs.

I still do not understand the attraction to watching porn. So your friends watch them with their significant others to get excited? I have been with a woman for almost two years now and the sexual part of our relationship never dulls. Never felt the need prior to this relationship in viewing porn whether it be pictures or videos when dealing with the sexual aspect of any given relationship. Please enlighten me people!!!

The Internet isn't that great for porn, I should know.

Easy to get poor quality short clips for free without too much hassle (popups etc), Most people would be very nervous about entering their credit card details on a porn site.


There is still a big market for porn on disc.

In all seriousness if we all did that there wouldn't be any porn. When comparing disc vs net you have to compare legal sources.

I'm in the same boat, as I have yet to buy porn in ANY format. Though I do know people who bought porn on VHS and DVD, so I'm sure there must be an audience for it.


In fact, I went to the local Fry's, and they have a HUGE amount of porn DVDs, and I swear that EVERY SINGLE TIME I go to that store, there is at least two or three people browsing that section without shame! Couples seem to flock to that section as well, as that is usually who is there looking! The porn section happens to be next to my favorite genre... horror... so thats why I noticed, if you must know.

Its the same market that is buying HDTV to watch sports, men 18-50, so yes.


The same people could watch those same games in SD but don't wanna.
