They continue to impress me very much with the rez. Do you think they are better than HBO HD or INHD?. I think all three are very good. What defines the best HD Channel? (Movies Only). What would be the criteria?

They have the best quality I think but need a bigger selection of movies.

In terms of the quality of hd transfers, the hdnet movies channel is by far the best IMO. True, they do not have as big a selection of movies as HBO, Showtime or Starz but they do a very good job with the ones that they have. It is the only movie channel that is truly 24x7 hd and shows all of their movies OAR. Now if HBO could have the same level of quality for all of their HD transfers and keep the movies in their OAR, then they would be the best HD movie channel.

Just my opinion, but I consider them the worst.

Just a tiny bit better movies on INHD.

Yea I guess that 2 out of 50 is not that bad. Thats about how many on that list that I would care to watch (that is only my opinion though). There are actually more than that but I also notice that some of the ones that I would actually watch are only on a couple of times and in the middle of the night.

Well, 3 movies will make it on my Tivo. Blankman (so lame its funny), Lost Souls, and Species 2. Not Oscar winners, but something I will watch anyways.

The selection is there, however, the quality of the selection is limited. I highly doubt that HDNet Movies turns a profit. So Mark is footing the bill. Most of the movie deals he signed are timetable contracts anyways. So he can only show them when he aquires the rights. Otherwise I have no idea why some great movies sit on the shelf.

I find HDNet Movies similar to D-Theater titles. They aren't blockbusters which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Which often means you haven't seen them and if given a chance turn out for the most part to be entertaining.

HDNet movies (are primarily) more than 5 years old and mostly ten or more years old ....and some 20 years old and older. The quality of the movie itself ranges from excellent to poor. Most have "name" actors/actresses.

But there is no question that they have the best resolution and picture quality. Showtime and HBO have inferior picture quality to HDNet. (I have all three.)

We continually find eminently watchable movies on HDNet Movies.

Not every night.

But surely once a week or more.

(Recent thanks are due for The Great Waldo Pepper and The Night of The Generals!)

And unlike the mega corporations they are competing with, Mark Cuban's people make sure their HD transfers are always pristine.

It seems to me that some people who have helped push HD should always be remembered.

Mark Cuban was televising more MLB (and in much better quality!) back in 2001 and 2002 than ESPN DOES NOW. (Until MLB got greedy and ESPN helped push HDNet aside starting with the 2003 season.)

And there have been other giant allegedly HD friendly companies - like the Starz management (which as recently as last summer was trying to suck up the MSOs by telling cable companies most Americans couldn't tell the difference between ED and HD) should be punished by not getting our HD-centric dollars. (The point being that MSOs could simply show Starz ED movies, save massive bandwidth, and the viewers would never realize the difference.)

But, sadly, the memories of early adopters seem to be very, very short and very, very selfish as in "what have you done for me in the past hour?"

As far as this household is concerned, HDNet and HDNet Movies continues to shine hour after hour.

What's great about HDNET Movies is that no matter at what time you tune in to the channel, they are always showing an HD movie in 5.1 surround sound and in it's original Aspect Ratio! They have shown a recent newer movie, I think it was The Real Cancun, which was alright, but I agree with Denon JBL. If HBO would show as many True HD movies in 5.1 and OAR, they would be the best HD channel period, if HDNET Movies would show, maybe not newer, but maybe even classic blockbuster movies(they did show Towering Inferno and Wild Bunch) like say Clash of the Titans, then they would be the top HD movie dogs, IMHO.

V* must get some of the movies after HDNet is done with them. Towering Inferno was just on recently. I'd put HDNM above any of the V* channels except for Monsters HD. Give me HDNet SciFi or HDNet Horror and I'd add back the HD Pack. Even movies the "caliber" of HDNM in the SciFi or Horror genre are very watchable IMO.

I really don't understand this kind of complaint. Most of the time when I tune to HBO, Showtime, or any other movie channel, what's being shown is something I've seen before. Maybe HBO has a greater number of different movies than HDNet movies, but the end result is still the same, repeat after repeat. There's really very little difference in terms of repeats. That's not always a bad thing, as some movies are worth watching many times. That's why people buy DVDs--they intend to watch them on more than one occasion.

HDNet Movies offers some older movies that just don't show up on other movie channels, and that's terrific. I can't fault HDNet for repeating the same movie. That's just the way it is. I find I probably watch HDNet Movies more than any other movie channel. Add HDNet's main channel, and I find HDNet to be one of the best HD sources around. And when HDNet's maintenance of OAR and it's terrific video quality is considered, it become even better.

Thanks HDNet and keep up the good work. If you want to repeat movies, that's fine by me, as long as new movies keep coming.

My point is this-when will some of the A-List be on,like CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND (ORIGINAL VERSION) or the Tom Clancy movies-Clear and Present Danger, The Hunt for Red October and Patriot Games,I am tired of seeing things on like The Astronaut's Wife which has been on many, many times before now and the Chuck Norris movies,I like Code of Silence but please, put some new ones on,its not like there is nothing to chose from, just look at the list I posted, there is a lot of movies there that have not been on,but it could be worse we could have Voom's Cinema10 channels with the same thing on all day and no OAR at all, just cropped.
