Sounds like a great problem to have, most of the problems are ceiling too low. I think it is just fine to have a tall ceiling like that.


I'd suggest you get one of the acoustics gurus, like Bryan Pape (Bpape here) to give you some professional acoustic thoughts.


You sure could do some serious staduim seating if you wanted to.

With the added benefit that you can leave them white and the reflected light off the screen won't be distracting because the ceiling is not that close to the screen.


Although the room is starting to get rather cube shaped in demensions. That could cause audio issues. But that is all the farther I can point you on that topic.

Your bass will likely sound better with a room with taller ceiling over a room with shorter ones. The bass carried much better in my family room with 9ft vaulted ceilings (to 12ft I believe) over my media room which is about 7-1/2ft after double-drywall and a subfloor.

Audio good/bad aside, if you're using a front projector that can't be installed off the rear wall, I'd add that that's likely going to be one long mounting pole to get the PJ properly aligned with the screen!
