I have a mp3 walkman and I have some mp3s Ive made off cds I have. The thing is Id like to shrink the file sizes of the mp3s I have since they are done at a verible bit rate and generally take up to 6mb. Id like to have smaller files for the walkman. I know I can simply rip those cds again with a higher compression (lower bitrate) or convert the current mp3s to wav and then back but does anyone know how to further compress an existing mp3?

I have never heard of anything that can take EXISTING MP3 files and compress them (without converting to .WAV and back to .MP3), although that sounds like a great software program.

I have been trying to get my hands on the .MP3 libraries to do some work on a software program I have in mind, but I can't seem to find them on the 'net.

If anyone has .MP3 libraries (preferably as Windows .DLLs) with documentation, I will try to pull this off myself.
