Somehow, all that exposed wood being near my amp, UPS etc worries me about being a possible fire hazard. Am I right to worry or no? I would certainly have a fan in the room to make surw that heat didn't get too out of hand, but I still have a nagging doubt. The closet is on the other side of the wall where my PJ will eb shelf-mounted, and is truly the ideal location to keep the gear orderly and out of sight.

You should be fine with the cedar. Drywall board is flammable also, so the same concerns you may have with the cedar lining would also apply to a standard drywall application. If I were forced to find a difference it would be the drying of the wood. The extra heat may make the cedar dry out to the point of cracking. This is really no big deal.

Just try to keep the heat under control, more so for your gear than for the potential fire hazard.
