I have a HK 8000 AV receiver which does double duty as a home theater receiver and a stereo receiver when we have company. I have a Parasound multi channel amp so this receiver runs only the sub. It doesn't have any HDMI inputs and I am going to be going to a Blu Ray disc player(probably the new Oppo). My plasma is a two year old Panny 50" plasma(1080i). Is it time for me to upgrade to a new receiver for all the new HD formats both in video and audio processing? Also and forgive my ignorance at this: will my tv accept a 1080p source? I would like to keep my Parasound amp and use the new receiver as a pre/pro. My budgett for this is around the $1,000 to $1300 range. Thanks for any suggestions and advice!
