I've been planning on buying this model; but I need to wait a month. One of the online authorized websites says this model is discontinued. So, I called Panasonic yesterday to ask them that question and I was told that the 42" 25pdu was not discontinued and that new models wouldn't be out until April. If that's not so, can you tell me when the new models will be out and what model will take the discontinued set's place?

Thanks...
I got conflicting reports from many sources before I bought my TH-42PD25U three weeks ago. I think they are harder to find however Sears seemed to have many in their warehouse.
Yes, I know they're still around. I have no place to put it yet and don't want it sitting around. So I'm wondering what will be available next month and of course at what price.

Are you happy with yours?
Costco here in Ct has plenty, saw 3 in boxes under the display, thou they dont sell PD's they sell PA's without HD tuners, and useless cablecard slots, which for $300 less is fine by me.
Oh... so that's the difference!!! I was wondering why the price is so much lower. Two questions then: 1. Do I need an HD tuner for an EDVD set?

2. I thought of buying at Costco... BUT I can't seem to find anyone to install the TV. Every installer that I've been able to find wants to sell me the set and then they'd be willing to install it. So if you have names or suggestions of plain old installers who are knowledgeable or if you know how to find one, please email [email protected]

Thanks so much.
Costco in Scottsdale, AZ had a bunch today - 3 or 4.
Yes, suppliers are running out of them.

Yes, some places still have them in stock in "their" warehouses.

Yes, the new model is ready to come out.

Yes, it will be out in April (crossed fingers.)

It was March. . . . but these things have a way of extending themselves, don't they!

You will need an HD ATSC tuner if you want to receive Over The Air (OTA) digital broadcast stations. Even if you have cable, the cable company may not carry all the HD broadcast stations in your area yet. Still very much hit and miss on that because of local station owners demanding fees from the cable companies to carry the digital channel. See the HDTV Programming and Local HDTV reception forums for more info on these issues.
