I want new technology now, but the price is holding me back. Is the picture with new DLP sets from Samsung much better with HD material than say a CRT Hitachi SWX model? I don't have DLP to view were I live yet so I have never seen the difference.

Can't comment on the Hitachi SWX, but these are the reasons I hear people cite for going with DLP.

a) brighter picture across a much wider range of viewing angles than CRT RPTVs

b) no convergence problems

c) no burn-in

d) lightweight and thin, making it a better fit in most living rooms. Some people use the term WAF (wife acceptance factor).

e) very good resolution, true HD. Not to say that other sets aren't also HD.

f) may be more expensive than CRT RPTVs, but much cheaper than plasma.
