So the other day my Onkyo TX-NR609 AVR began making a random pop/snap noise out of the left front speaker. (it's setup for 7.1)

So I troubleshot it the best I could - swapped speakers, checked wires, cables etc with no luck. The next day the snap/pop was random from all speakers. So I performed a master reset - then updated the firmware to the latest since I figured I'd have to set everything back up anyway.

Well now the darn thing won't pass any audio to the speakers when I turn it on. If I do a master reset it then works - until I turn the system off again - then no sound again.

So before I start looking for a replacement I just wanted to see if anyone could confirm for me that it this sounds like it is indeed on it's way out. I'm guessing the cost to fix it will be prohibitive considering it's age.

Thank you for any replies.

Seeing as how it's an Onkyo, it's probably in some stage of failure. If you want to protect your speakers, I would stop using the receiver unless you find a way to fix it.

Thank you both. I will call them and see if it's a part of the service program.
