Is the rear projection LCD tv much worse than a plasma in terms of picture?

If space is not an issue which is better to buy?

In some ways RP LCD is superior to plasma. RP LCD is also much less expensive - a 50" RP LCD is ~$3K vs. plasma at ~$10K.
