so I have a ruby on order to replace my sharp xvz12000, and I'm assuming that from all the comments posted that I will get some kind of a better picture from the ruby. Can you ruby owners give me a hint as to what I might expect as far as brightness, blackness, sharpness, and color improvements. I use a 139inch wide

Hipower...its 23 feet from the projector which is slightly above head height. Iris open on sharp. Its a batcave dark room and i sit 1.5x width from screen. I only watch dvds.

Will the picture be better at that pic size and viewing distance because of the increased resolution and smaller pixel size. And will blacks be better if I need to use the ruby in iris open mode? Will it be worth the upgrade in you guys's opinions?

It is a no brainer answering if the ruby is better . I am sure Tryg will agree here , I think he is partial to the ruby

If you are happy with what you have and you only watch dvd's and no HD and you sit at around 1.5 times back from screen which is a good distance in your case .

I think that the extra resolution might be wasted

I think unless you feel wanting for a better pic than you already have I would wait.

As good and as cheap as the ruby is now it will only get cheaper and better next year or when a three chip DLP comes out for half the cost of a ruby then sony will have to respond and drop their prices .

Tryg has found posting religion. My guess, only a guess, is that a moderator contacted him about too many posts. Just a guess. Tryg declined to do a comparative porn post. Now this recent post. Man o man. Tryg has got thread religion. I think it shows what a little thread politics can accomplish.

i was just wondering if because i was viewing a large screen fairly close up if it would make that much of a diffeence. Which one, dlp or sxrd stands up to large size degradation better.
