Frankly it doesn't matter. All those seven-figure contrast ratios are marketing BS. They mean virtually nothing. And the proof is when you actually calibrate and measure these sets real contrast ratios they aren't only dramatically less than that, but they bear no proportionate relationship to how big they claimed to be relative to other sets with smaller claimed dynamic contrast but possibly great actual contrast.

You're better off digging around on this forum and the Internet and finding expert reviews where people actually measured contrast as part of calibration reports and published the results.

I can tell you, for example, that my 590, which theoretically should have a lesser contrast range than the 850/860, was calibrated by D-Nice, the same person who did the calibration the 860 for the plasma shoot-out, yet mine 590 ended up with a better contrast range (0.008fL - 52 fL).

Yeah. manufacturer #'s on contrast ratios are completely useless.

The 560 and 550 are the same exact TV, except AFAIK the 560 adds the Cinema Smooth option.

True figure is in the region of 1750 to 1.

As others have said, published contrast ratios have no relation to reality at all. They're just whatever the marketing department thinks it can get away with.
