First we hear that Intel is coming out with their own RPTV line, then we hear about their new hi rez audio format that is greater than both SACD and DVD-A. Compatibility built into their CPU's. Obviously, they are moving into entertainment electronics, but doesn't it look like a big Silicon Valley move to seriously compete and win market share from Asian dominance? This may just be the beginning as we hear more announcements from Intel, Microsoft, Apple, Gateway, HP, Compaq and more...

I think that due to the lower margins in the PC industry and the shrinking revenues (Its a commodities game now, has been for quite some time) the players in that industry are looking for places where they can improve upon their bottom lines. There are larger margins to be had in the AV industry and they just want to bite a piece off of it. They know full well that they have the capabilities to win market share as well as come up to speed quickly with the migration from analog to digital components. A new day is coming for the AV industry and the ability to buy quality audio or video "phile" components at very low costs (over the internet) will soon be upon us.
