Is the chroma bug only a problem when you select progressive output from the DVD player or does it also occur in interlaced output? Is the chroma bug only a problem with progressive scan DVD players?
It is also there on interlaced output. Because you have visible line structure on an interlaced display, it makse the streaks harder to see. Of course now I see them on a 20" TV with DSS. Philips DirectTivo has the chroma bug.
With all the outboard video signal processors (and some "inboards", like my Cinematrix), it becomes relevant to discuss how they minimize/enhance the dreaded chroma bug. I went from a Sony 7000 DVD player (w/out the bug) to a 7700 DVD (w/the bug), but the progressive scan/scaling circuitry seems to minimize the chroma bug effects. Why, I don't know, but it's some concellation for those who are "stuck" w/the bug but have invested in things like DVDO, etc.
