I don't think so. However, I am placing two new Arcam P1 Monoblocks into a system that is currently powered by a 20 yr old Carver TFM25. The interconnects between the Carver and an Arcam AV8 are a 20 yr old pair of Monster Cable ICs. The other IC's in use are from Cobalt Cable.
If the preamp has a relatively low output impedance, the amp has a relatively high input imepdance, and they are reasonably close together, then the interconnection is quite forgiving and you only need decent quality cable.
If you use vinyl, then your wiring from the phono cartridge to the phono preamp input is more critical.
