Is the next Rainbow Six coming too early?

565 Views 12 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  TheFerret
I know the holidays have kept a lot of us busy. The usual gang had a rough time during those holidays to play XBL and as a result we are just now getting into the thick of GR2. I see the next RS3 is due out in March-April and wonder if it is a little early. Then again, the October-November rumor of the X2 coming out is too early for me.

Are there many GR2 & RS3BA players still knee-deep into this to consider a new one?

I'm really looking forward to the next Rainbow. My friends and I prefer playing the missions in Co-op mode together and terrorist hunts, over playing against others on live. So some new missions would be great!

We all have Halo2, but fell out of playing that. The other night we got back together and started a black arrow session. It was a blast. There is something about completing an objective based game together, that just rocks. Plus we are guaranteed a good group of gamers to play with, can't say the same on Halo2.

How is GR2? As a rainbow six fan, does it compare favorably?
Adam, I know what you mean. Its why my friends and I have gravitated to the RS/GR series for online co-op play. And yes, GR2 is more like RS than any previous version of GR.

The first time I played it in co-op mode I thought a friend was hiding behind a tree and leaning at the waist. WRONG. Its was a refreshing challenge and still we've not finished all the maps completely.
GR2 is pretty good w/ some nice new innovations, but overall I preferred the original. Also GR2 has some pretty annoying bugs. The screen locks up every couple of seconds at times and the audio in the surrounds sounds like a blender exploding at times also. This is very frustrating when playing campaign mode.
Hmm, I have not had any of the problems you have described. I typically play online on Saturday evenings, too, when I think its probably the busiest for the Live network.

There was an initial situation when GR2 first was released where either I would get a lot of dropped sessions ot the XB would crash outright (never did this on other games), but I have only had on XB crash and one session drop in the past three weeks and I am having telco localized network issues awaiting resolution.

My XB is connected to my Linksys router and sits in the DMZ. I do not play single-player so I cannot relate any experiences therein.
I haven't played any of the newer R6 games (3 or BA) or GR2 because I just don't have a steady group to do co-op with anymore. GR1 was a blast though.
So, are you saying you have no friends your age that are into similar things, like FPS/XBL? I'm sorry to hear that. Isn't there a thread on AVS for XBL Gamertags? I should think you could come up with some regulars, unless they have to be local.

About 2/3 of the regulars I play XBL with are from the workplace, and a remaining portion their friends and or relatives. Its fairly close-knit.

Must have not played with Team AVS then. ;)
Don't you mean Team AVmess?

Oh no, believe me, Team AVS takes up plenty of my time with Halo 2. I just don't have a steady group for R6 and GR anymore. :D

Mixing Team AVS with a tactical FPS would be like giving your sworn enemy a shotgun and a warrant for your death.
In CS I got to the point where I bought no weapons. Instead, I killed an opponent and used their weapon to kill their buddies. It was the only way to rub their death in more. :D

No I specifically said Team AVS. Read the thread, you will see how much fun we have.
Oh, I do not doubt you are having fun. Even idiots in groups can make fun. No, not calling you or your Team AVS idiots. LOL

I do like the ammo-limitations in GR2. No such thing as unlimited ammo. Being aggressive and wasteful at the beginning of a round/map in GR2 and you will be looking for another weapon to pickup, which is also cool (and like CS).
