I have read about a couple of success stories on this forum involving the Sony 1270q and 1440x960 @ 48hz resolution. After much tweaking and driver updating, I am now achieving this rez and it looks great! My concerns is that it is actually beyond the practical limits of this machine. 800x600 is often talked about as a safe upper threshold.

Am I safe or am I tempting fate?

I don't remember the exact input frequency limit of the 1270 but you are definately pushing the CRT's beyond their ability to display a picture without overlapping the lines. All this will do is soften the picture. I would think that 720P would be much more appropriate for this projector. Most feel the sweat spot is closer to 600P. I am surprised you are getting a good picture at 960P.

My experiments w/ 48 hz refresh definately showed that you could go to a higher resolution and get a good picture if you didn't mind the flicker.
