Hi all,

I have a friend who really likes the picture on the Sanyo PLV-70 but for his application(sports only) he has to have a 4x3.Is there a 4x3 version of this pj?

Thanks,

Shawn

Or you may consider the X10 which is considerably cheaper. 2500 ANSI lumens and 700:1 contrast.

The XT15 is 3200 ANSI lumens and 800:1 contrast.

The XP41 is only rated at 550:1 contrast.

Shawn-

What kind of brightness is he looking for?

He needs to fill a 12' wide screen. The room is dark for the most part(no windows) but does have a bar area at the back.Viewing distance is a little over 20'.

Thanks for the help,

Shawn

Well, the XP46 will certainly do that. 4100 lumens, 800:1 on/off CR, XGA resolution. Other than that, it is basically identical to the plv70 (same lens options, controls, case, everything. Has motorized lens offset and zoom so it is easily adjusted. Fan noise is louder than the 70.

If he will be running it many hours a day, he may see some of the LCD blue polarizer degradation after about 6000-8000 hours of operation (this is where we start to see it in similar applications).

Might also look at the NEC GT1150. Same basic feature set, 3000 lumens. Contrast is a little lower. We find the NECs are pretty good at fixed installation stuff with long operating hours as they do a pretty nice job of ventilating the case well. Another nice feature, they have IR receivers on all 4 sides so remote works from anywhere in the room.

We've used those as well. Same nice features, less lumens (2000). Again, constrast is pretty low (400 on:eek:ff), the Sanyos are noticeably better in that respect. If this is for sports though, maybe not so much an issue.
