how much money can you spend?
what do you most use it for?
What are your viewing room conditions?

Hey guys. I am looking for a new hdtv to replace my 46" Hitachi rptv. I wanted to go with a 58"-63' plasma , but so far all the plasma's seem to have some kind of serious issue. Samsungs that band, panny's that have hand shaking issue with my onkyo sr 875. Lg's with bad black levels. I'm starting to think i should just keep my Hitachi. Any advise for a new set

I think you mean Samsung's that BUZZ, not BAND, but whatever. Panasonic's don't have any issues with widespread HDMI handshake problems, so I'd be willing to guess it's a problem with your receiver, and not the TV.

I have the Sammy 58" 860 with no bands and no buzz. No handshake issues with my Onkyo 805. I had the Hitachi and there is no comparison to a good 1080p display.

room conditions can be whatever i want. I have 4 windown , but they are covered by heavy drapes which makes the room pretty dark even at noon. My gf calls my tv room a cave because it is always dark.
As far what i use it for. Some ps3 gaming, movies, and sports. Viewing distance is about 8'. As far as money goes i woild like to keep it under 2500. preferably around 2000. I was looking at the samsung 58b650($1725) or the panny 54g10(&1500) or lg 60sp80.($1800)

I got my decision down to 2 sets. Either the sammy 58b650 or the panny 58s1. The buzzing from the sammy doesnt bother me as i have about 15-20dbs of ambient noise anyway. Also from reading the onkyo hand shaking thread it looks as if Panasonic has released a firmware(1.25) patch to take care of this issue
The issue is i will be buying either one of these sets sight unseen as there is no one in my area that has any left. The panny is about 300.00 less than the b650.
Anybody seen these sets side by side and has an opinion on them.
Just wanted to edit: this is what I am currently watching. An 06' Hitachi 46F510 46" Projection TV

The 58" B550 can be had for about $1,600 all over the place...and apparently you can turn it into a higher model through the service menu.
