What I meant is once the HDD is taken out of RTV and placed in PC, can I move shows from one category to another, adit some info on the show such as title, channel recorded from and so on. In other words is there a interface for accessing RTVs file system and editing show description files (I am purely speculating there are such files, probably XML or any type of DB)?

As I found out in my research RTV runs VxWorks OS.

I am not familiar with that OS at all. What file system it uses? And can that file system be accessed from windows, linux or Solaris running boxes?

A quick google search yealded:

A real-time multitasking operating system from Wind River Systems. Originally it used the VRTX kernel but this has been replaced by Wind River's own "Wind kernel 2.4".

Before version 5.3 VxWorks included a software development environment but this is now called "Tornado".

Current version: 5.3, as of 1996-11-28.

The info is kinda dated. =)

There is a big difference between OS and FS.

VxWorks supports DOS FS, RT-11, and netDrv.

Question is which one is used by RTV?

And latter how it could be accessible from Windows, Linux or UNIX.
