My very first thread...hopefully no one has covered it...but hoping to get some advice. Wifey has finally allowed me to convert one of my rooms (currently kid's playroom) into a dedicated home theater room. I would like to know if the Pioneer VSX-9040 has enough power to power the B&W 683. I really loved the sound of the B&W's obviously in the showroom they had a more powerful receiver. But i wasn't planning on going overboard just yet. Possibly also looking at purchasing the B&W htm62. Or should i go with the B&W 684 instead? Any other suggestions for receivers?

Given your explanation, I would think the AVR would be fine. Is the room going to be sound proofed? If so, maybe not.

B&W's do like their power, but most don't run loud enough to really make a difference even with external amps let alone one AVR to the next.
