Hi,

Is there such thing as spring driven cable dispencers for cables which go from the AMP to Loudspeakers ?

The problem is that we want to build up mobile HT system, loudspeakers also come with it and must be distributed around the room prior to playback. The problem is that there are so many cables involved that it could get very tiring to organize them back after each session, so it would be really interesting to have a closed "Roll" for each cable, preferably spring driven so it retracts the cable by push of the button. Basically in the same way most Vacum Cleaners do with their power cable.

No.Sence,

I haven't seen anything like that. But I do recall a product for garden hoses. Many speaker cables are about

the diameter of a garden hose - perhaps a visit to the hardware store would prove useful.

Maybe something like the power cords that drop from the ceiling that are used in shops. Pull them out and they stay at that length. Give a quick tug and they reel themselves up.

Check with companies that sell equipment for sound reinforcement (concert sound, etc).

If you rack mount your equipment you shouldn't have that many cables to deal with. It sound come down to:

* power for the rack

* power for the display

* video from the rack to the display

* 5 speaker cables, one for each speaker from the rack to the speaker

* subwoofer cable or one additional speaker cable

With a little practice you can countercoil even long speaker cables in a minute or less. After shows I would routinely have to deal with cabling for 10-20 mics and direct-in boxes, speaker cable from 4-8 monitor speakers, and the speaker cables for the main speakers (which were generally bi or tri-amped). Still, moving the actual speakers and racks often took more time than dealing with wires. The only cable that we had which had a reel for winding it up was the snake going from the stage to the soundboard. This was over an inch in diameter and had about 120 conductors (3 each for 40 mics or other equipment).

I expect that you can find what you are looking for, but it doesn't sound like it will save you much time to me.
